English as a Second Language
What is our ESL Program?
Our mission is to provide students with limited knowledge of English language instruction and academic support until they acquire the level of English proficiency necessary to participate fully in grade-level classes. We also seek to facilitate their instruction to American culture and cultivate appreciation of their cultural background within the local school community.
By law each school district must have a certified ESL Program Specialist on staff, even if they have no ESL students at the present time. This is due to the transitory nature of many foreign students. At present CASD has one ESL Program Specialist, Ms. Jessica Ross.
