STUDENTS RAISE
$$$ FOR RESEARCH BY BUILDING MATH SKILLS
Gr. 5-6 students at Clearfield Area Middle School recently participated in the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Math-A-Thon ® program and raised almost $3400 to help kids battling cancer and other deadly diseases at St. Jude, one of the world's premier pediatric cancer research centers. The Clearfield community supported Clearfield MS students by making donations in honor of their participation in the program. Also, the MS Student Council collected an additional $230 from their "Red Ribbon" kick-off dance on Oct. 23 to raise money for St. Jude.
Clearfield MS administration and teachers are very proud of our students for working so hard to raise money for St. Jude through Math-A-Thon. We wish to thank our students and community for their help to St. Jude in its work to find cures and save children.

Middle School students who collected $75 or more for St. Jude's Math-a-Thon are pictured with Student Council representatives and Middle School principal, Mr. Fred Redden.
(Math-A-Thon allows students to build/practice essential math skills while they raise funds for kids battling cancer at St. Jude. The program works in the following way: Teachers serve as volunteer coordinators for Math-A-Thon at their school. Participating students solve math problems in a printed or online Funbook. Students ask family/friends for donations in support of their participation in Math-A-Thon. All donations are sent to St. Jude, where no child is ever turned away because of the family's inability to pay.
Now in its 30th year, Math-A-Thon is one of America's largest education-based fundraisers. More than 10,000 schools across the country participate in the program. Math-A-Thon is also one of the most successful fundraising campaigns for St. Jude, having raised nearly $400 million since its inception.)
